Blown Castor Oil

Blown Castor Oil (BCO) also known as oxidized castor oil, polymerized castor oil, caster stand oil which is a golden yellow to honey colored viscous liquid. Blown Castor Oil (BCO) has an acid value of 3 to 25 mg KOH/g and a viscosity of 15 to 17 Poise. Blown castor oil is prepared by blowing air or oxygen into it at temperatures of 80 – 130°C, with or without catalyst to obtain oils of varying viscosity. The process of oxidative polymerization increases the viscosity and specific gravity of the oil.
